Communicating the benefits of a project is a tricky skill to master - you might know your project backwards but it’s a good bet that the wider community is in the dark.

THG were approached by a local council who were looking to relocate their library closer to the centre of town, helping to create a CBD environment, a town hub.  In a perfect example of THG’s multidisciplinary approach, our Economic, Strategy and Research  and Urban Design teams were able to create a special place that delivered a result that was not only aesthetically pleasing but economically and socially beneficial, an outcome far beyond the expectations of the client.

But how to communicate this high level vision to the local community who loved the old library?

THG worked with the council to develop a visioning document that explained the proposal in simple terms, providing images and contextual references to help in communication.  Simple techniques were used to convey that the proposal was still a work in progress, such as presenting the final plans in hand-drawn style, instead of in a cold, computerised version that seems much more final.

THG are now taking this visioning document and using it to form the basis of a wider community consultation plan.
