With a vision to create a high quality residential development in an area characterised by buildings shorter than four stories, client John Cassidy realised that THG were the best equipped to argue his case for something a bit more majestic to the Gold Coast City Council.
At face value, it was a near impossible task – a relaxation of the planning provisions surrounding an infill project of this type. However, THG conducted considerable research, including spending time in a cherry picker evaluating the view, that allowed us to demonstrate the benefits of taking the same amount of floor space and allocating it over seven stories instead of four. Through existing partnerships and networks in Council, THG showed how their configuration would minimise the visual impact of the building, having less impact on the view and the immediate environment.
The approval of this application is proof of THG’s extensive knowledge and understanding of the planning environment.
