Constructing a teak plantation in Tully is not just a matter of planting the trees. There are a number of environmental implications which resulted in the client approaching THG to confirm buffer areas surrounding wetland areas on their site.
THG incorporated surveying and environmental assessment in identifying these boundaries, conducting an aerial inspection, GPS logging and ground truthing verification of the borders between the wetland and terrestrial environments.
Using this information, the appropriate distance between the rural activities, the wetland and the terrestrial forest were determined resulting in the best protection for the native vegetation while allowing the landholder maximum yield from the land.
THG was able to give the client confidence in the plantation boundaries, ensuring they were complying with environmental regulations. The end result was that the client had access to more land than was originally specified by the Council.
